Job Title: Service Advisor
Location: Abilene, TX Type: Full-Time Compensation: Depends on experience
About the Role:
Are you a "people person" with a knack for explaining the "why" behind a repair? We are looking for a Service Advisor to be the face of our shop. You won't just be writing tickets; you’ll be the bridge between our technicians and our customers.
Because transmission work is often a major investment for a vehicle owner, we need someone who can lead with empathy, build trust, and translate complex mechanical jargon into clear, actionable advice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Advocacy: Greet customers, listen to their vehicle concerns, and manage expectations regarding diagnostic time and repair costs.
- Expert Consulting: Translate "it’s making a weird clunking sound" into technical notes for our builders, then explain the resulting diagnostic (e.g., torque converter failure vs. solenoid issues) back to the customer.
- Workflow Management: Coordinate with the shop foreman to schedule jobs, track parts delivery, and ensure vehicles are delivered on time.
- Estimates & Sales: Create accurate estimates for repairs, rebuilds, and swaps. Present options clearly and close the sale without being "pushy."
- Quality Control: Perform final walk-throughs and explain warranties to customers upon vehicle pickup.
What You Bring to the Table:
- The Gift of Gab: Exceptional communication skills. You can stay cool under pressure and handle difficult conversations with grace.
- Technical Literacy: You don’t need to be a rebuilder, but you should understand the difference between a CVT and a dual-clutch system.
- Organization: Ability to juggle 10+ open repair orders while answering phones and ordering parts.
- Experience: 2+ years in automotive service advising preferred. Specific experience in transmission or heavy-line repair is a huge plus.
- Tech Savvy: Proficiency with shop management software (e.g.,Tekmetric, Mitchell1, ShopMonkey, RO Writer).
Why Join National Engine and Transmission?
- Specialized Environment: We focus on one of the most complex parts of a vehicle. You’ll become an expert in a niche that is always in demand.
- Competitive Pay: Pay depends on experience.
- Great Culture: Family-owned, weekends off, paid training, or clean/modern facility.
- Benefits: Health Insurance, 401k, Paid Time Off, etc.
