Automotive Technician (Drivetrain Specialist)
Are you a diagnostic wizard who lives for the complex puzzles found inside a powertrain? Our shop specializes in the "heavy lifting" of the automotive world—Engines and Transmissions. We are looking for a skilled Automotive Technician who prioritizes precision over speed and understands that a quality repair starts with an expert diagnosis.
If you’re tired of doing oil changes and tire rotations all day and want to focus on high-level mechanical surgery, we want to talk to you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advanced Diagnostics: Utilize scan tools, lab scopes, and physical inspections to accurately diagnose internal engine failures and transmission malfunctions (automatic and manual).
- Engine Service: Perform everything from timing belt replacements and head gaskets to complete engine long-block swaps and rebuilds.
- Transmission Specialist: Remove, shift-kit, repair, or replace transmissions, transaxles, and transfer cases.
- Drivetrain Maintenance: Diagnose and repair differentials, CV axles, and driveshafts.
- Quality Control: Conduct thorough road tests to ensure all repairs meet our "fixed right the first time" standard.
- Documentation: Maintain clear, organized records of diagnostic steps and parts required for service advisors and customers.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience specifically focused on engine and transmission repair.
- Technical Savvy: Proficiency with modern diagnostic equipment (Snap-on, Autel, etc.) and information systems like AllData or Mitchell1.
- Certifications: ASE Certifications (specifically A1 Engine Repair and A2 Automatic Transmission) are highly preferred but not required if you have equivalent "wrench time."
- Tools: Must possess a complete set of professional-grade hand tools and air/power tools.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy components and spend the day on your feet in a fast-paced shop environment.
What We Offer:
- Competitive Pay: Top-tier hourly or flat-rate pay based on experience and efficiency.
- Focused Work: No "fluff" jobs. You’ll be working on the most technical and rewarding aspects of automotive repair.
- Equipment: Access to the latest specialty tools, lifts, and software updates.
- Growth: Paid training and support for further ASE certifications.
- Culture: A team of like-minded gearheads who take pride in their craft.
